The Ravenspoint Hotel.
The photo above is from a travel publication called Signpost, c1960. The entry runs as follows...
"Club Licence; golf; dancing; bathing; boating; riding; fishing; children and dogs welcome; 6 private baths; drying room; games room; T.V.
"In these crowded days it is dificult to find an hotel on a tripper free coast, and as Ravenspoint, now owned by Mr. John Bibby and leased to Mr. and Mrs. G.F.G. Rivaz, achieves this object it is well worth your attention. Its rock-bound coast reminded me of Eden Roc, on the Riviera, in an unsophisticated way. Here you can plunge direct into deep water. But nearby are the most attractive sandy coves to delight children.
"The house, long, gabled and stone built, aloof in private grounds, is worthy of its setting. Well furnished public rooms, facing the sea, are large, but not too large. Bedrooms in some cases approach the de luxe with wonderful mirrors, tiling and built-in cupboards. Some have private baths, also de luxe. There's an attractive smoke room bar supplemented by a small cocktail bar in the hall, and outside a loggia with bar where the Sailing Club meets.
"The dining room has been enlarged to meet the demand for the excellent food and service the house offers, and also allows space for dinner dances in season. The hotel closes 30th September. Daily from 42 shillings."
