The following is an extract from a Prospectus for a Girls' School, which is believed may have operated at the end of the 1930's.
"The HOUSE itself is of modern construction, erected on rock on a promontory, and facing the Irish Sea on three sides with extensive moorland on the other ; it contains a large number of spacious sitting bedrooms, as well as form and class rooms, all affording the maximum amount of sunshine and air, and commanding magnificent ocean views from Holyhead mountain to Bardsey Island, and on a clear day the Irish coast is visible. The lighting is by electricity from the estate's own power plant ; there is central heating throughout as well as large open fireplaces, and the number of thoroughly up-to-date bathrooms is a feature of the house. The kitchen accommodation, where domestic science can be taught, is most up-to-date and is beautifully tiled throughout. The drainage is on modern lines and is entirely independent of outside installations. Water is obtained from the Holyhead main supply.
"The GROUNDS are very extensive, with Tennis Courts, Fives Court, and Playing Fields. There is also a safe sandy bathing beach within a few yards of the main entrance. The well-known Holyhead Golf Course is in the immediate vicinity.
"The SCHOOL is able to accommodate 40 to 45 boarders. Rooms are arranged for two, three and four girls and there are a number of single rooms. The original furniture of the rooms has, subject to school requirements, been retained in order to afford real comfort and to establish a feeling of home life. The provision of plentiful and nourishing food as well as the general health of the pupils is made the special care of the Principal. There is a well stocked home farm supplying vegetables, poultry, and other farm produce.
"The AIM OF THE SCHOOL is to provide a thoroughly sound education on modern lines ; to fit girls for the many social duties expected of the English lady of to-day ; to prepare those intending to enter the professions - and to inculcate the highest traditions of English home life. Health will always be made the most important consideration and as the air in the district is acknowledged by the Medical Profession to be of the very purest, no more suitable place could be chosen for a school for young girls.
